Though living in a gated community may increase your chances of safety and decrease your chances of becoming a victim of crime, there is certainly no guarantee that you, or members of the gated community, will never experience crime. People living in gated communities tend to have a false sense of security and therefore let their guards down by leaving windows and doors wide open, and not installing security systems. It is imperative to not fall victim to this false sense of security and maintain vigilance at all times, whether you live in a gated community or not.
